PHIL 112 GMU Ethics and the Cybersociety Discussion
Description
We have learned that there are at least two main opposing views about computer ethics. On the one hand, Norbert Wiener and Deborah Johnson believe that the use of computers merely creates new versions of old, or standard, moral and ethical problems, and can be dealt with by applying existing laws and ethical norms. On the other hand, Walter Maner and James H. Moor believe the use of computers raises completely new issues and, in Moor’s thinking, muddles old ones. Thus, computer ethics requires a wholly new approach.
Based on the article, state which of these views you believe is correct (at least at this point), and explain why.
